Chronicles of the Treewisemen XXIV

Curiosity had a passerby stopping, getting out of his car and wandering over to the Gladys Ave Thursday Night BBQ.

Having asked about and been told that it was not some fancy, smancy organization or church that was responsible for putting on the BBQ but a smallish group of individuals;  and that the BBQ had been happening for going on five years sun, rain, snow………this  individual sought an explanation for this dedication and effort, seemingly refusing to accept that they could be doing it simply because there were hungry people needing food.

Which left some of the diners looking at each other for inspiration and an explanation that the Inquisitor could accept.

One of those among the quizzed, stated that two individual members of the assemblage who put the meal on week after week, had gotten married in the past few months. This individual went on to suggest that the questionable soundness of mind demonstrated by these acts of marriage, made Insanity a significant probability – thus explaining their actions in putting on the meal.

Someone else spoke up to say that marriage did seem to have Gordy looking a little soft around the edges.

Several other individuals spoke up in support of this observation which resulted in Doug piping up to say that he did not think Gordy was looking rather fat and sassy from marriage.

Doug’s statement was greeted by a long moment of silence and then the observation was made that Doug himself was looking pretty well fed. It was pointed out that, all things considered, in speaking for Gordy Doug  might as well have been throwing an anchor to a drowning man.

After a lively exchange of……shall we say wit?……Wordsmith suggested a simple daily exercise that would, hopefully, allow Doug and Gordy to avoid being confused with the Michelin Tire Man.

Wordsmith stated Doug and Gordy needed to find a space where they had lots of arm room and solid footing.

Then they needed to get two five pound potato bags apiece. Taking one bag in each hand they would lift their arms up and hold the bags straight out for as long as they could; repeating the exercise daily until they could hold their arms and the bags straight out for ten minutes.

At that point they would switch to two ten pound potato bags. Holding them straight out until they could hold them for ten minutes, at which point they would switch to twenty pound potatoes bags.

Repeating this sequence with thirty, fifty and one hundred pound potato bags.

Once they were able to hold the one hundred pound potato bags straight out for ten minutes they were to return to the five pound potatoes bags, this time putting a potato in each bag
